Refugee Insights - Sudan the Sadness : My Life Experience 난민이 말하는 ‘수단 내전’

 <Refugee Insights> 는 난민 주도 이니셔티브 ‘한옥커즈’가 주최하는 월례 행사로, 매월 마지막 주 일요일 난민들이 이끄는 토크세션과 문화행사로 이루어집니다. 한국 난민활동가들과 시민들을 대상으로 난민들이 직접 본국의 정치사회적 상황과 강제이주를 발생시킨 주변국과의 갈등과 분쟁의 역학에 대해 공유, 발표하고, 나아가 상호문화적 이해를 도모하는 자리입니다.

<Refugee Insights> is a monthly event hosted by HANOKERS, a refugee-led initiative, which takes place on the last Sunday of every month.  <Refugee Insights> is an attempt to shed light on the perspective of refugees who have intimate knowledge of the conditions in their home countries, the dynamics of the conflicts and the factors that led to their displacement while bringing unique cultural insights.

✨ 국제사회가 가자지구와 우크라이나에 주목하는 사이, 북아프리카에 위치한 (북)수단에서 벌어지는 내전은 수많은 희생자를 낳으며 이미 2년째로 접어들었습니다. 4월 난민인사이트에서는 수단출신 난민이자 인권운동가인 아담이 현재 수단에서 벌어지는 무력충돌과 비극의 역사적 배경을 짚고, 본인의 경험을 통해 사회정치적 갈등의 실상을 이야기 합니다.

While international attention is focused on Gaza, and before that, on Ukraine, the armed conflict and civil war in Sudan have already entered their second year. April Refugee Insights focuses on Sudan’s current crisis through the lens of Sudanese refugee and rights activist Adam, drawing on his lived experience and historical perspective.

수단에는 아랍계 인구와 500여의 아프리카 부족들이 섞여 살고 있습니다. 하지만 종족간 갈등과 외부적 요인에 의해, 2003년 다르푸르 인종학살을 비롯해 아프리카에서 가장 오랜 내전을 겪어왔습니다. 현재 분쟁에만 여섯국가들이 개입하며 갈등의 골이 깊어지고 있습니다. 아담은 역사적 관점에서 복잡한 수단의 정치지형과 갈등을 조명합니다.

Sudan is known as the home to a mix of Arab and Nubian African populations, encompassing over 500 ethnic groups or tribes. This ancient African land has been plagued by decades-long conflicts, fueled by ethnic tensions and complicated by external involvement. In the ongoing conflict, six countries are engaged, further exacerbating the situation. Through this presentation, Adam will shed light on Sudan’s political situation and current events within a historical context, offering insights into the complexities of the country and the region.
