Our History
한옥커즈(Hanok + ers)의 개념은 2022년 봄 한옥에서 여러 명의 난민들이 모인 모임에서 처음 등장합니다. 한옥커즈는 한옥에서 활동하는 사람들에 대한 설명을 넘어 문화적 용어로 난민, 즉 이니셔티브와 기여를 통해 한국의 문화 및 사회적 구조에 가치를 더하는 데 역동적인 역할을 하는 사람들로 재정의합니다.
The concept of Hanokers first emerged in the 2022 Spring at a social gathering with several refugees at Hanok. Beyond describing people involved in activities in Hanok, Hanokers redefine refugees in a cultural term, that is, people who play a dynamic role in adding values to a Korean cultural and social fabric through their initiatives and contribution.
2022년, Hanokers는 난민의 주체적이고 기업가적 역량에 초점을 맞춰 관심있는 개인들과의 공동 프로젝트를 추진하며 다양한 수익사업 및 소득 창출 활동에 뛰어듭니다. 메타버스 한옥 짓기, 한옥 게스트하우스 운영, 온라인 어학 수업 등의 경험을 통해 한옥커즈는 난민이 위태로운 생계와 경제적 어려움에 더욱 적극적으로 대처하지 못하는 상황에 더 많은 관심을 기울이게 됩니다.
Throughout the rest of 2022, focusing on refugees' agency and entrepreneurial capacity, Hanokers ventured into different profitable and income-generating activities along with refugees in a joint initiative with some partners and associated individuals. These include Hanok building on Metaverse, running the Hanok guest house, and online-based language tutoring. The experiences led Hanokers to pay more vigorous attention to refugees' precarious livelihood and economic hardships that prevent them from being more proactive.
2023년부터 한옥커즈는 난민이 양질의 일자리에 접근하기 위해 직면하는 두 가지 주요 장벽인 한국어 능력과 인적 네트워크 부족을 개선하는 것에 주력하고 있습니다. 동시에 협업을 통해 한옥에서 교류, 만남과 자기개발을 위한 창의적이고도 상호 문화적 기회를 만드는데 관심을 기울이고 있습니다.
From 2023 onwards, Hanokers' endeavour has shifted to lowering two prominent barriers refugees face to access quality jobs: lack of Korean language skills and human networks. At the same time, Hanokers seek partnerships to create creative and intercultural opportunities for exchange, encounters, personal development and self-care in Hanok.
